I recently travelled to Budapest for the weekend, where I took in the sights of this fantastic city. As you may know, Budapest itself is split into two distinct halves – Buda and Pest – by the mighty Danube river which bisects the city.
I was fortunate enough to stay in the Hilton hotel in the Castle District (it was pretty cheap – honest!) which afforded amazing views of the city and surrounding area. Food and in particular beer was pretty cheap too (the record for a whole round was £1.77!), although this varied considerably depending on where you were (as we found out after getting stung in the hotel bar – £10 a pint anyone?).
For anyone thinking of travelling to Hungary and Budapest in particular I really recommend it – the people were welcoming, the food good, beer cheap, loads of sights and some brilliant bars and clubs. Viszlát!
