Calling animation fans! Universal is set to morph it’s kids channel Sprout into Universal Kids come September
Cartoon Brew reports that the launch programmes will include Dreamworks’ Madagascar and How to Train your Dragon spin-offs All Hail King Julien and Dragons: Riders of Berk. Comcast which owns NBCU acquired DreamWorks so the channel seems to be a spring board to showcase DreamWorks’ animations as well as non-animated TV shows and films like Top Chef Junior.
The general manager of Universal Kids, Frances Berwick, explained to C21 Media: “The launch of a channel that represents the world of NBC Universal family brands with great TV content at its centre makes tremendous sense for our business. Just as children grow, Sprout is growing into Universal Kids – and we will reflect all that is universal about being a kid through connection, storytelling and entertainment. A place that reflects their life and passions.”
Will you be tuning in September?
