Meet our Multimedia Designer Stuart: a dab hand at HTML, tea-making and referencing Westworld.
Hi Stuart! Take us through what you do here at Spinning Clock.
I am also responsible for most of the html output of the company. This comprises of responsive html, java script and online interactive tools.
How would your colleagues describe you in three words?
Excellent Tea Maker.
Tell us about what you get up to when you’re not at Spinning Clock HQ.
Brainstorming methods to make our website even better! Aside from that, having recently bought an iPad Pro, I’ve rekindled an interest in drawing by hand.
HBO’s Westworld has inspired me to draw Anthony Hopkins using the iPad app ‘ProCreate’. The brush styles, and the way you draw, are very similar to real ink and paper. I would really recommend it to anyone with an iPad who doesn’t want to get their hands mucky with charcoals, paints and ink.
You can read all about it here: http://procreate.si/
What’s the best part of being a member of the Spinning Clock team?
The day to day challenges of working on new and exciting projects and then seeing through these projects to their conclusion for such high profile clients.
Do you have any advice for someone reading who aspires to be a Multimedia Designer?
I’d say to anyone who wants to work as a multimedia designer, aside from having a keen eye for design, get to grips with the Adobe Suite and its foundations such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
I’d also say to never start with what you know, always have the idea first and then work out how to do it and ask questions later. This way you can always push yourself forward on everything you do. Use websites like jsfiddle.net to form an understanding of java script, draw and design frequently.
Thanks Stuart for chatting to us this week! Join us for Spinning Clock Sit-Downs every Friday and meet the rest of the SC team. We’re a friendly bunch – you can catch up with us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram too.
