Last week I enjoyed a long weekend in the amazing city of Istanbul. It was a great place to go for a short break; lots to see and do, the weather was fantastic (over 30°C which made a welcome change from rainy Blighty), and it’s by the sea so you can have a dip in the ocean if you like!
If you’ve never been, Istanbul is located in the North West of Turkey and bridges the two continents of Europe and Asia. It is a vast ‘mega’ city and has an incredible fusion of eastern architecture mixed with newly built museums and art galleries.
We took in all the usual sites such as Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque and the bazaars, as well as sampling the café culture at night in and around the side streets of Taksim Square. On the final day we took a cruise up the Bosphorus strait and enjoyed the view of Istanbul stretching out for miles and miles in front of us.
Check out some pictures I took below.
